Junior Masters Gavel Club
Amparo Cifuentes, DTM and member of Toastmasters International since 2010, is the Founder and Counsellor of our Junior Masters Gavel Club. An active leader in the organization, Amparo has held all Club Officer roles, was 2013-2014 Area Governor, received the District 86 Members Making a Difference Award in 2016, was Toastmasters District 86 Youth Leadership Program (YLP) & Gavel Clubs Chair for 2021-2022, and is currently Gavel Clubs Coordinator in Toastmasters District 123, Chair of the Global Youth Gavel Clubs for North America, Acting Immediate Past President at Chosen Voices Toastmasters, Charter Member & Treasurer at Peel Bilingual Spanish Toastmasters, Sponsor & Charter Member, Sergeant at Arms at Chez Nous Toastmasters and Secretary at Great Minds Advanced Toastmasters. From 2014 to 2022, she was Pathways Chief Spanish Translations Reviewer for Toastmasters International. In 2022, Amparo was awarded as District 123 Humorous Speech Champion and in 2023 she was Evaluation Contest winner at Division C in District 86 and International Speech Contest winner at Division B in District 123.
With a passion for giving youth the opportunity to grow and develop their confidence and public speaking skills, Amparo works with a dedicated team of Coordinators from her home clubs and the Brampton Toastmasters club to make this dream a reality!

Karina Peterson, ALB, CC was a member of the Point of Tale Toastmasters Club from 2012 to 2019, where she was Club Officer every year including the roles of President, VP Education, VP Membership, Secretary and Sergeant at Arms.
​
Karina is now member in the Burlington Advanced Toastmasters club in District 86 and she also believes our Junior Masters Gavel Club is a unique and special opportunity for our youth. Without her amazing dedication, energy, effort and support every Saturday, along with her fantastic evaluation skills to give feedback to our Evaluators and Speakers, we could not have our club meetings!

Roger Caesar joined Toastmasters in February 2011 and is a proud member of Brampton Toastmasters and the Raising Champions Advanced Club.
​
He has an outstanding public speaking track record, having won the Toastmasters District 86 International Speech Contest in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2021. Roger also won the Toastmasters District 86 Humorous Speech Contest in 2014 and was also the recipient of the 2016 President of the Year Award in Toastmasters District 86.

He has dedicated his time to support the community and youth in leadership programs, and continues to contribute to Sick Kids Hospital and Knight's Table Food Bank in Brampton. Roger is a motivational speaker who helps other develop their speaking skills and maximize their greatness and we are truly grateful for his support!

Kwesi Millington is our Toastmasters District 86 2017 Evaluation Champion. He says: "Empowering Youth is my passion. A major part of developing confident, resilient leaders
is helping them to become confident communicators. As a Certified Public Speaking
Coach, I help teens to speak powerfully, and to prepare and present memorable speeches.
My greatest achievements are not the awards that I've won, but the speaking championships
won by the youth I've coached. It is immensely exciting for me to give kids the opportunities
that I didn't have. My mission is simple: to speak, to share, to serve."

Akhil Iyer, member of Toastmasters International since 2016, is an enthusiastic leader in the organization. Akhil has already held a couple of Club Officer roles during her first two years: Sergeant of Arms for 2016-2017, and Treasurer and Secretary of the GE Meadowvale Speakwell Toastmasters Club.
Inspired to work with youth and contribute towards their growth, Akhil also volunteers for other youth development programs such as JA Canada, which delivers programs to aspiring students and prepares them to succeed in a global economy. Akhil also took the opportunity to spend some more quality time with her son Sid, when he was an active member of our Junior Masters Gavel Club 😊!!!!
